形態特徵

Herbs to 50 cm tall, covered with septate hairs; stems erect, square, angles rounded, joints grooved, villous, densely so on younger parts.
Leaves petiolate; petioles villous, 3–8 cm long; blades 2–6 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, elliptic to ovate, base cuneate, apex acute, margins serrate, both surfaces villous, lower surface glandular dotted, veinlets prominent beneath.
Inflorescences of cymes forming dense cylindric terminal spikes, to 10 cm long; bracteoles ovate, puberulent along the margins. Flowers sessile; calyx campanulate, minutely hairy, glandular dotted, 5-toothed, teeth equal, triangular, puberulent on margins; corolla tubular, minutely hairy on upper parts, 4-lobed, lobes ovate; stamens 4, inserted in throat, anthers 1-celled, filaments puberulent; stigma tapering.
Nutlets ovoid, 3-ribbed, acute at apex, smooth.
